The other Algeria - "Echo des Stades" As an undeclared civil war between Muslim fundamentalists and the military regime installed at independence racked Algeria in the 1990s, international and local media became a major battleground in the conflict. "L'Autre Algérie" (The Other Algeria), a television series, portrayed the complex realities of everyday life beyond the narrow local media images. "The Other Algeria project" was put up in order to promote through the media the deep problems in Algeria. Internews Europe has provided production grants plus technical and editorial support for the film "Echo des Stades" (Echo from Stadiums) and four others. Each documentary shows a more intimate and personal side of Algerian life than the typical media.
